BOSTON, July 17, 2012 – Danconia Media, a leading New England web design and marketing firm, has been hired to overhaul the Boys & Girls Club of Boston’s website.
BGCB launched the current version of its website in 2007. The new site was a major improvement over its previous website, but technology has shifted dramatically in the past six years. The organization wants to better engage its visitors with dynamic content and seamlessly integrated social media and email marketing campaigns.
BGCB’s leaders also want the site to be more easy to update. Danconia Media’s web team is building the site using a world-class content management system (CMS). The web-based software will empower BGCB’s staffers to add, remove and modify content within moments with minimal training. Since the CMS is open-source, it lacks the exorbitant licensing and maintenance fees that proprietary solutions carry.
BGCB operates 10 clubs throughout Greater Boston that serve the communities of Charlestown, Chelsea, Dorchester, Roslindale, Roxbury, South Boston and Mattapan. The organization serves about 14,000 children and teenagers, ages 6 to 18, through its programs and partnerships. Its growing service network includes clubs, Camp Harbor View and presences in police departments throughout the city.
BGCB is a not-for-profit organization that’s affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club of America. Its mission is to “help young people, especially those who need us most, build strong character and realize their full potential as responsible citizens and leaders.”
Work has already begun on the new website. The redesigned site is expected to be launched in the near future.
