WEARE, N.H., May 13, 2009 – Danconia Media today announced the launching of a new program designed to benefit New Hampshire nonprofit organizations that lack enough funding to promote their causes via the Internet.
Danconia Media, a Weare, N.H.-based Web design and marketing firm, is offering professionally designed Web sites to qualifying Granite State nonprofits. The sites will be equipped with content management systems so organizations can easily update them in-house, even if their staffers and volunteers have zero Web editing experience.
The program is open to organizations that don’t currently have Web sites as well as ones whose sites are considered inadequate. Though the program is intended for organizations located in state, out-of-state nonprofits that provide services for New Hampshire residents will be considered. The Web sites would normally cost thousands of dollars apiece.
William Sweeney, Danconia Media’s vice president, said the program was launched after his company’s employees noticed that countless New Hampshire nonprofits have sites that are poorly designed or severely outdated. Many smaller organizations lack Web sites altogether and don’t have the funding or the expertise to launch them on their own.
“In today’s world, it’s absolutely essential to have a Web presence,” Sweeney said. “Unfortunately, the current economy isn’t being kind to nonprofits, and, as a result, many great New Hampshire organizations lack the resources to promote themselves via the Web.”
He added: “We want to help nonprofits better reach potential donors, volunteers and beneficiaries online so they can maximize their potential. We’ll take care of the Web work so they can concentrate on what they do best.”
Danconia Media has a lengthy history of philanthropy. Last year, for example, employees traveled to Grand Turk Island to assist in recovery efforts after Hurricane Ike battered the British territory.
Danconia also launched a Web site for the effort www.grandturkhurricanerelief.org that has resulted in many donations and inquiries from citizens interested in providing direct assistance.
