WOLFEBORO, N.H., May 16, 2011 – The Governor Wentworth Arts Council (GWAC), a nonprofit organization that promotes art initiatives in the Lakes Region, has launched a new website engineered by Danconia Media, a New Hampshire-based web design company.
The site – located at www.wolfeboroarts.org – features information about GWAC’s exhibits, events, education initiatives and its members. Developed using WordPress as a content management system (CMS), the site gives GWAC the ability to add, remove and modify the site’s content without relying on a third-party agency. Since WordPress is open-source, the site lacks the pricey licensing fees that proprietary systems carry.
Using the site, visitors can learn about activities that GWAC holds in the Lakes Region area, including Artists in the Park, Paint the Town, Just Desserts, First Night Wolfeboro and monthly art exhibits at the Wolfeboro Public Library. The site includes profiles of GWAC’s artists, including Marcia Atkinson Christensen, DJ Geribo, Duane Hammond, Sandy Hammond, Jerome Holden and Nancy Lane Piper.
GWAC is a volunteer-driven organization that usually meets once per month. Members, who pay $20 in dues annually, receive quarterly newsletters, monthly emails, notification of events and the chance to participate in local exhibits. For more information, email info@wolfeboroarts.org.
